Week 3 of 23: Friday

Max Speed: 6.2 mph
Ave Speed: 3.7 mph
Time: 26 minutes
Distance: 1.591 miles.

today it snowed again. Michigan... brr. I picked a park near my house I've never visited before and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. It was more hilly than I expected, and it killed my knee, but man it was fun. I am really enjoying running.

The bolded items above were things that I improved upon... woot!!

If you are thinking about running, do it! I can't encourage you enough.

Woot, woot!, Boy Running.

The ab cruncher machine I like (tonight I did 3 sets of 4, 4, 4. First time! The first two sets were easier than the other two nights I did it. The 3rd set though was a killer for me. But I kept at it, because I want that machine to be my best exercise friend after the bike at home.

It is a precor v-crunch ab103
____________
a bench line or something like that anyway.

I asked jenny hokenson (her mom babysat Jessica when she was a wee one) a body trainer at West Hills what suggestions she had for me to burn fat calories better and she gave me the following information. While you already are aware of this, I will write it to you, so if I need to refer to it I will check your blog! Organized, aren't I?!
Cardio:
Treadmill: for me, start at low speed (2.5 to 3.5) with a high incline (5-12) for 30 to 45 minutes.
--lower resistance if needed to last the 30-45 minutes
________________
Most important factor for big weight loss: weights
--the more muscle you have, the more calories (fat) you burn

breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack if hungary later at night even if an apple, yogurt, fresh vegetables or bananna. to help with metabolism regularity

Jenny said to cratisfy (her word for satisying one's craving) with the snacks, they will help to burn fat calories. and to have protein shortly after exercise. I think you had already advised me of that one...

At the doctor's office this morning I read an article by a body builder who said that for women to begin losing weight, they needed a minimum of 1300 calories per day for metabolism to kick in. Anything less than that, the metabolism would lie low. She did not mention the minimum for men.

Oh well, I am off to ride the bike. Keep on your running journey schedule. You are doing well with it all!

Have you been into health.msn.com? I went in and could live there for days reading healthy type articles. There is a lot of information there including runners world, and when i clicked on get your belly beach ready, i then went into a website of weekly workout tips from celebrity trainers. I have so much to learn--sigh--

You have given me the boost needed to carry on fast and furious with my exercise--tonight I biked for 31 minutes. I have never gone past 20 minutes before. I was a nervous at one point because the heart rate showed 131 and it was when I was feeling a bit extended and wondered if I was going to fall dead or what, as I have never had that high of a number before. Determined though to ride for 30 minutes, I lowered the resistance and finished. Because I took my hands off the handles that read the heart rate, I never got sensible readings for the last ten minutes. I took that as a good sign, and I did not fall dead from the bike. All was well.
